Winter
tip:
Winter
is upon us and it is time to get your car prepared. There are three
main areas that you will need to address to make sure your car is
prepared for the coming cold. First, check your coolant levels and
condition. There needs to be enough coolant and it needs to be mixed
with the proper ratio of water to be effective so the coolant will
not freeze. Second, have the condition of your battery checked.
The effective charge of your battery will diminish as the temperature
lowers. Third, put some gas line anti-freeze in your tank. Chicago
is a very humid place in the summer and fall so there will be a
good chance that your tank has some water in it. This will prevent
any water in the system from freezing until it is burned off. If
it has been a long time since your last tune-up you may want to
have the condition of your ignition system checked to make sure
your car doesn’t let you down at the wrong time. Remember the cold
is not your cars friend but with a little preparation your car will
not fail you.
