The
Fox has been a mainstay in the VFC stable since I bought it new
in 1989. The Fox started out life just as an average grocery getter.
Then the mods started. First were the struts and springs. Then things
started to get serious. The first big change came with the addition
of a 2-liter engine out of an Audi 80, which was built up, for track
fun. Then came the custom struts and the coil-over suspension along
with the large rear sway bar that all VWs seem to need. The
brakes from a 16v Sirocco were added to slow down the increased
hp. This car is now being turned into a track only car with a completely
stripped interior, custom roll cage, extensive lightening of the
body, close ratio gearbox, and engine mods to give it the punch
needed for track use. Check back to see the progress of this project.
