Brians
car is the cleanest MKIII GTI that I have ever seen. This car is
driven all year-round so its condition is a real testament to Brians
ability to keep his car clean. When Brian first started coming to
VFC it was just for routine maintenance. Brian had competed in SCCA
Solo I with his car shortly after he bought it. So, the car had
a few mods that were legal under those rules. After seeing what
some of the other cars around VFC were like, he decided to make
some small changes to his car. It all started out with a TT brake
upgrade, then the big changes came. We installed a Schrick variable
intake manifold, Schrick 268 cams, high-lift valve springs, lighten
flywheel, and a Garret chip to make all those parts work together.
These mods together with the header and cold air intake that he
had installed previously really woke his car up. All of theis new
horsepower created a heat problem that is inherent with all VR6
engines. So, VFC created a custom oil cooler set-up to keep things
cool under the hood. Brian then decided that his suspension was
holding him back. So on went a new set of Special Valved KW V3's
to help keep the handling of the car under control while on the
track or the streets. It is now a speed demon during track days
with the CVO.
